Hi, im running a 3Ware 9500S-4LP with 3 Seagate ST3320620AS (SATA-II
320GB) on it.

When i perform a smartctl -a -d3ware,0 /dev/tw0 every of the Pre-fail
attributes is above the threshold, like:

ID# ATTRIBUTE_NAME FLAG VALUE WORST THRESH TYPE
UPDATED
WHEN_FAILED RAW_VALUE
1 Raw_Read_Error_Rate 0x000f 111 091 006 Pre-fail
Always - 37544417
3 Spin_Up_Time 0x0003 091 091 000 Pre-fail
Always - 0
5 Reallocated_Sector_Ct 0x0033 100 100 036 Pre-fail
Always - 0
7 Seek_Error_Rate 0x000f 073 060 030 Pre-fail
Always - 22726013
10 Spin_Retry_Count 0x0013 100 100 097 Pre-fail
Always - 0

This happens on every server with Seagate disks and a 3Ware
controller inside. Do I have to worry about the Pre-fail attributes?
Or can I ignore them right away?

Also my syslog tells me:

smartd[7181]: Device: /dev/twa0 [3ware_disk_00], SMART Usage
Attribute: 195 Hardware_ECC_Recovered changed from 68 to 67
smartd[7181]: Device: /dev/twa0 [3ware_disk_01], SMART Usage
Attribute: 190 Unknown_Attribute changed from 60 to 59
smartd[7181]: Device: /dev/twa0 [3ware_disk_02], SMART Usage
Attribute: 190 Unknown_Attribute changed from 61 to 60
smartd[7181]: Device: /dev/twa0 [3ware_disk_02], SMART Usage
Attribute: 195 Hardware_ECC_Recovered changed from 67 to 66

I can't find any info about these SMART fields on the Seagate page.
Anybody who is able to help me?

Thanks

Please read the man page. All explanations are written there.
Normalized values go from large to small numbers, so as long as
Value is larger than Thresh, you are mostly fine. All entries
in your When_failed column are "-", so they are clean.
In the column with "Pre-fail" strings, the column header is "TYPE",
so what do you think this means? It's the category (or type)
of the attribute, it's no "happening" indicator column ...

look at the bottom of http://smartmontools.sf.net or search in
wikipedia for SMART.
