[smartmontools-support] unable to fetch IEC (SMART) mode page [Operation not permitted]

Hello,

I am trying to access a COMPAQ hard drive in a RAID 1 storage array with
smartctl -s on -T permissive /dev/da0sa1 and I receive this error when I
do:

unable to fetch IEC (SMART) mode page [Operation not permitted]

The system is FreeBSD 4.11 and the boot.message states that the device
is a COMPAQ RAID 1 VOLUME inte Fixed Direct Access SCSI-0.

Am I unable to access this device with Smart Tools?

Jeremiah,

There is currently no support for Compaq RAID controllers in
Smartmontools. As far as I know, for any OS.

There is a experimental (Linux-specific) patch, it should be available
from mailing list archives.
