Hi *,

I try to see the currant status of harddrives attached to a ibm servraid
m5015. it is probably a relabeled LSI MegaRAID 9260-8i with firmware 12.xx.

OSes I used were CentOS 5.7 (2.6.18-274) and debian squeeze (2.6.32-5).

I've complied smartmontools 5.41 from scratch and tested the binary with
a dell perc6/i (lsi 1078 based).

Viewing drive status on the perc6/i was flawless. The ibm m5015/ 9260-8i
didn't work at all "Inquiry failed".

Has anyone had success with 9260-8i? How can I obtain debug information?

Thanks in advance Thomas

Hi,

There was a recent post to this list:

NOTE: I have not tried this myself yet, but it looks like it might work:

Hi Justin,

thanks for reminding me on this message. I've updated the megaraid
firmware to 12.12-0056 and the smartmontools to

smartctl 5.42 2011-09-12 r3416 [x86_64-linux-2.6.32-5-amd64] (local build)

MegaCLI -AdpAllInfo:

Deny SCSI Passthrough : No
Deny SMP Passthrough : No
Deny STP Passthrough : No
SMART Mode : Mode 6

Driver is (from dmesg) megasas: 00.00.04.01 Thu July 24 11:41:51 PST 2008

Has anyone had success with lsi 9211 based products (Dell H700, IBM M5015)

Thanks Thomas

Re-check device IDs with "Megacli pdlist"

Device Id: 8

Run smartctl -a -d megaraid,DeviceId /dev/sg0 (or /dev/sg1,2,3,4)

or if you have sata drives

smartctl -a -d sat+megaraid,DeviceId /dev/sg0 (or /dev/sg1,2,3,4)

Re-check device IDs with "Megacli pdlist"

Run smartctl -a -d megaraid,DeviceId /dev/sg0 (or /dev/sg1,2,3,4)
SAS drive:
./smartctl -i -dsat+megaraid,8 /dev/sg0

does this funny thing:

Smartctl: Device Read Identity Failed: megasas_cmd result: 0.8 = 0/45

thanks for the hint to use device id from megacli

./smartctl -i -dmegaraid,<deviceid> /dev/sg0

reports correct values.

Thanks a lot for your help
